How You Can Help Texas Tornado Victims

If you want to provide assistance, the Red Cross can be reached at 800-RED-CROSS (733-2767) or redcross.org. One fast option to help provide disaster relief is to text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, people also can make a monetary donation to support the disaster response efforts by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY or by going to salvationarmydfw.org.

Blankets, women’s clothing, towels and toiletries are needed at Winters Park Assisted Living Facility, 3450 Wagon Wheel Road in Garland.

This from Rowlett mayor Todd Gottel:

“Many of you have asked to volunteer and donate. I would suggest donations at this point to the Red Cross and Salvation Army. If and when we need volunteers, I will let you know. Thank you for all of the offers and prayers. Please continue to pray for all of those impacted and emergency volunteers and emergency services personnel.”

Money and other items can be donated at rowlett.recovers.org

City officials continue to refer those who wish to donate to the Red Cross, either online or live at a site set up at a church at 3600 Chaha Road. Several Rowlett churches are also accepting donations, as is Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall.

Flower Mound will be collecting donated gift cards at the town’s fire station, police and courts building, public library and Town Hall to help those affected by the tornadoes.

American Airlines is pledging $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist those impacted by the winter storms. Also, the airline will award 250 AAdvantage miles for a donation of $50 to the Red Cross or 500 miles for a donation of $100 or more through Jan. 31.
